In der DDR wurde das Fach zwischen 1975 und 1990 in Personalunion mit der Romanistik vertreten. Seit 1992 ist das Seminar eigenst\u00e4ndig und forscht in historischer und vergleichender Perspektive zu Sprachen des indoeurop\u00e4ischen Friedrich Bechtel bildete den Grundstock der im selben Jahr gegr\u00fcndeten Seminarbibliothek. Der Bestand umfasst heute sowohl gedruckte als auch elektronische Ressourcen in unterschiedlichen Sprachen. Der Sammlungsschwerpunkt orientiert sich am Profil der universit\u00e4ren Lehre und der Forschung, die Zugriffsm\u00f6glichkeiten auf elektronische Inhalte werden kontinuierlich
