Heide-Süd Branch Library (Ha 4)

The Heide-Süd Branch Library is situated on the Heide Campus (Heide-Süd), in the immediate vicinity of Fraunhofer research institutes, the Technology and Start-up Centre (TGZ) and the Max Planck Institute for Microstructure Physics. The premises, which were occupied in 2009, offer a wide range of opportunities for learning, active collaboration, research and professional development.

Accessibility

The building is accessible to people with disabilities. There is also a lift in the library. An accessible „all-gender“ toilet with additional nappy-changing facilities is also located in the building.

The Subject specialists are experts in providing information within their respective specialist fields. They are responsible for building up and developing subject-specific collections and provide support with the search for and use of academic information.

Premises & Facilities

Jobs

The branch library has 245 study spaces, 25 computer workstations and approximately 170 laptop connections. The reading room is on the 3rd floor. A computer suite, which is also used as a training room, can be used as an additional reading room on the 1st floor.

 

The building houses a scanner, a ScanTent, a lounge with coffee and snack machines, and a children’s play area. It is also possible to hire conference equipment.

 

There is a top-up machine or payment terminal in the entrance area. You can use the top-up machine with an EC card, current account card, credit card or debit card, or via your mobile phone.

Working in individual or group rooms

The branch library has individual study rooms, known as ‘carrels’, and group study rooms for up to three people, each of which is equipped with a whiteboard.

Individual study rooms can be booked using the form for allocating a Private office (Carrel) can be reserved for a period of 4–8 weeks. For 8 weeks, the Registration for the final examination necessary.

In addition, the library has an Active Learning Space, a learning area designed to facilitate active learning and working as much as possible with the aid of a wide variety of equipment and technical devices. You can find detailed information about the Active Learning Space here.
