Emergency preparedness
Preservation of the collection also encompasses issues relating to emergency preparedness. For this reason, each ULB site has its own emergency response plan, tailored to the specific local circumstances, which is updated annually.
To safeguard library collections worthy of protection, the ULB can rely on the Halle Cultural Heritage Emergency Network, a voluntary association of museums, archives and libraries in Halle that provide mutual assistance in crisis situations.
The aim of an emergency response network is to provide mutual personnel and technical assistance in the event of fires, natural disasters or other emergencies, in order to salvage and safeguard cultural heritage. To this end, the members carry out regular emergency drills to ensure they are prepared for various scenarios and to practise and continually improve the procedures involved in an emergency response.
