Like many of the ULB’s collections, the prints and drawings collection can be traced back to Johann August von Ponickau (1718–1802), who bequeathed the prints and drawings to the Wittenberg University Library as part of his private library (Ponickau Collection). As well as portraits of many prominent figures from the Central German region, the collection also includes views of towns and landscapes in Central Germany.
