Research
Further catalogues
As well as Ha:Lit, you can also search many other catalogues held by the ULB Saxony-Anhalt. The OPAC allows you to search the ULB’s local holdings, whilst the image catalogues provide access to older holdings and collections via images of catalogue cards. On this page, you will find information about the various catalogues, their respective search options and the holdings you can search within them.
The online catalogue (OPAC) lists all journal holdings as well as monographic works published between 1501 and 1850 and from 1983 onwards. Monographic works from other years are being added on an ongoing basis. For publication years 1851 to 1982, please also check the image catalogues.
Whilst items from the branch libraries can be borrowed directly on site, a request is required for items held in the stacks. To do this, you need a Library account Mandatory. As soon as the articles from the magazines are made available, you will receive an email notification.
The image catalogues can be used as a supplementary resource for researching literature published between 1851 and 1983. The remaining publication years are fully covered in the ULB’s electronic catalogues. The image catalogues are simply digital reproductions (images) of the conventional card catalogues, which were digitised at a later date. Various catalogues are available:
- Alphabetical catalogue of the Central Library, comprising the catalogue sections for publications up to 1929 (Garter Catalogue), 1930–1974 and 1975–1990
- Catalogue of University Publications, comprising the catalogue sections for the years 1800–1974 and 1975–1990
- Saxony-Anhalt Central Catalogue, comprising the catalogue sections for publications up to 1974 and 1975–1990 (monographs)
- Subject Index 1945–1990
- Systematic catalogue up to 1961 (Hartwig Catalogue)
Unlike the OPAC, the search options are limited. The order of the scanned images in the alphabetical catalogues corresponds to the order in the original catalogues.
With the VPNThis service allows you to access protected resources on the university’s data network or licensed online databases whilst on the move or from home – resources that would otherwise only be accessible from the university network.
Further information on using MLU’s VPN service can be found on the IT Service Centre’s website.
