The library offers a range of events to support you with academic writing. Whether it’s the appropriate and judicious use of AI or strategies for overcoming writer’s block – our courses provide you with a wealth of helpful tips on a wide range of issues relating to academic writing.

As, of course, no two writing projects are the same, we are making the writing advice service – which was previously offered on an ad hoc basis as part of the Workflowday event – a permanent fixture. It all kicks off in November: from the week of 24 November 2025, you can pop in at two of the library’s branches with your writing project and get some advice. At the Heide-Süd branch library, writing advice sessions take place every Tuesday from 1 pm to 2 pm; at the Steintor-Campus branch library, you can drop in for writing advice every Thursday from 3 pm to 4 pm. No advance booking is required; simply pop into the relevant library – the event areas are clearly signposted within the buildings.

Are you struggling to come up with a topic? Are you unsure how to format your paper as a whole? Are you unsure about the structure of your paper? We can help with all these (and other) hurdles and questions relating to academic writing. Are you unable to attend the sessions listed but would still like some support? Please send an email to learnit@bibliothek.uni-halle.de, and we’ll then see when we can arrange an appointment.
