This historical collection is supplemented by specialist literature, available in both printed and electronic formats. The collection’s focus on music is aligned with the university’s teaching and research profile, and access to digital content is being continuously expanded.

Training courses
Library induction sessions, training courses on research methods and reference management software (Citavi, EndNote and Zotero), as well as consultations on publication strategies and research data management, take place regularly and on request.

History and Profile of the Subject
In Halle, the Department of Music is divided into the sections of Musicology and Music Education. Musicology covers the fields of historical and systematic musicology, as well as ethnomusicology. Music Education focuses on the artistic and pedagogical aspects of music. Both departments form part of the Institute for Music, Media and Speech Sciences, which was founded in 2016.
