Events
We welcome you to Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg and thank you for your interest in the University and State Library.
Please note: The information on the introductory courses applies to the winter semester. If you are starting your degree programme in the summer semester, please contact the relevant Subject specialists or via Learn:it at learnit@bibliothek.uni-halle.de. We’re here to help.
At the start of the semester, there are numerous library events where you can find out important information to help you get off to a good start. You’ll find the dates listed for you in the events overview as soon as they’ve been finalised. The events calendar lists numerous library events, where confirmed. The six events currently taking place are listed here; for further events, please go to All events. In many subjects, you will be given further information about the library during the general introductory sessions and/or during tutorials.
At the start of the term, a general course will be held (you will find details in the course catalogue in due course), which will help you get to grips with the subject of libraries.
You can find answers to questions that frequently arise at the start of your studies – such as those relating to borrowing books or the opening hours of the various library branches – here gathered.
You can find guidance and helpful explanations regarding Ha:Lit, the University and State Library’s search tool, on the Information page gathered.
In the course of your research, you will no doubt also come across electronic resources which, for licensing reasons, can only be accessed within the university network. As a student, you can also access these resources within the university network via a Virtual Private Network (VPN). Detailed information on this subject is available at here gathered.
