Specialist services

The University and State Library of Saxony-Anhalt offers a wide range of subject-specific services for students and researchers, including specialised services for particular academic disciplines.

This area is supported by dedicated subject specialists who possess in-depth knowledge of their respective disciplines and are therefore ideally placed to provide personalised advice to users. The focus here is as much on assisting with literature searches as it is on teaching information literacy and providing training in the use of specialist databases and journals.

Another service offered by the library specifically for Middle Eastern, North African and Islamic studies is the Specialist Information Service (FID). This is a service established by the German Research Foundation (DFG) to facilitate access to digitised specialist literature. Library users can thus access supra-regional, national and international article databases and specialist portals to find and order relevant academic literature.
