registration

Registration for the library is an automatic part of immatriculation since winter semester 2020/21, during which students also accept the ULB's usage regulation.

The student card is valid for a year and can be extended by providing a valid address document (identification card or passport with registration card or residence permit).

Students immatriculated before winter semester 2020/21: please use the registration form.

patron account

You can check and extend your borrowed media in your patron account   . Your user number is located underneath the barcode at the back of your student card. Since March 2020, the password is preset to the date of birth in the form TTMMJJ. Patron accounts created earlier have the first four latters of the last name (umlauts are unbound, e.g. ö to oe, all letters are written in lowercase) as a preset. Changing your password is possible and recommended. If you have forgotten your password, please contact the main lending desk to reset it.

mail reminder

You can set up a mail reminder    to get a notification if your media are about to expire. You will receive a mail notification three days before the lending period ends.

extensions

Media can be extended up to ten times. Please use your online account   . If you want to continue using media after the 10th extension, you will need to show them at the library lending desk. It has to be at the lending library (not one of the other locations).

returning

Entliehene Medien können in der Ortsleihe (Zentrale Bibliothek) und allen Zweigbibliotheken zurückgegeben werden.
Bei der Rückgabe werden angefallene Gebühren (Mahnungen etc.) fällig.
An den Wochenenden ist eine Rückgabe in folgenden Bibliotheken möglich:

• Zweigbibliothek Heide-Süd (Ha4), Samstag von 10:00 - 14:00 Uhr
• Zweigbibliothek Medizin-Campus (Ha6), Samstag von 10:00 - 14:00 Uhr
• Zweigbibliothek Franckeplatz (Ha10), Samstag von 10:00 - 23:00 Uhr und Sonntag von 14:00 - 23:00 Uhr
• Zweigbibliothek Rechtswissenschaft (Ha11), Samstag von 08:00 - 23:00 Uhr und Sonntag von 14:00 - 23:00 Uhr
• Zweigbibliothek Steintor-Campus (Ha18), Samstag von 10:00 - 23:00 Uhr und Sonntag von 14:00 - 23:00 Uhr
• Zweigbibliothek Wirtschaftswissenschaften (Ha27), Samstag von 10:00 - 14:00 Uhr
• Zweigbibliothek Musik (Ha38), Samstag von 10:00 - 14:00 Uhr
• Zweigbibliothek Universitätsklinikum (Ha150), Samstag von 10:00 – 23:00 Uhr und Sonntag von 14:00 – 23:00 Uhr

Während dieser Zeiten ist es auch möglich, die Verlängerung von Medien telefonisch vornehmen zu lassen.

Der maßgebliche Rückgabetermin ist der Eingang in der Bibliothek.

reminder fees

If media aren't returned in time, they will be feed at 2,00€ five days after the lending period has ended. 14 days later, the second overdue notice at 5,00€ per medium is sent. Another 14 days later, the third overdue notice will be sent via registered post at 10,00€ per medium. The singular fees are added, so there will be 17,00€ to pay per medium after the third overdue notice. Should the feed media not be returned after the third overdue notice, ULB will start a replacement purchase for the overdue titles.

During the overdue period, there is no grace period for the two day quarantine!

searching for literature

You can use our discovery system Ha:Lit for this purpose. We provide a note with helpful research tipps. You can also aquaint yourself with other research tools here. You will also finde short video tutorials    with research tips and tricks at the university's YouTube-Channel.

use of printed resources

Gedruckte Medien können in den Zweigbibliotheken i.d.R. selbst aus den Regalen entnommen werden, Magazinbestände (darin eingeschlossen sind auch die Bestände der derzeit geschlossenen Zweigbibliotheken Vorderer Orient und IZEA) müssen über die Kataloge bestellt werden. Sie erhalten eine Nachricht, sobald die Medien zur Abholung bereit liegen. Literatur mit Erscheinungsjahren vor 1920 kann nur in die Lesesäle bestellt werden.

using electronic resources

The ULB provides a growing portfolio of eBooks, eJournals and databases. These can be accessed from all PCs in the libraries and PC pools. Within the university's Wifi network, you can also use your own device (notebook, tablet, smartphone).

To gain access from elsewhere, you need to use a VPN client, such as the one provided by the IT Service Centre.

workplace reservation

Aufgrund der in der gültigen Eindämmungsverordnung festgelegten Abstandsregelungen ist die Anzahl der Arbeitsplätze in den Bibliotheken deutlich reduziert worden. Aus diesem Grund ist eine Arbeitsplatzreservierung obligatorisch.

introduction to the library

At the start of the winter semester, the subject specialists at ULB offer introductions in cooperation with the faculties, institutes and faculty student bodies. You can find the dates at the branch library's website.

Every second wednesday of the month, a general introduction to the library is available. All introductions are free of charge.

trainings

The ULB's subject specialists offer regular trainings for reference management software and subject databases. You can find the dates on the according websites.

printing, scanning and copying

The multi-purpose printers in the libraries may be used with the library card. The card needs to be charged with money (minimum charge: 10,00€). You can charge the card at the payment stations in the libraries and at the payment stations in the canteens. Please note that a girocard is required. Credit card payment or cash are not possible. Please refer to the table for costs:

interlibrary loan

Literature not available at the ULB or other libraries in Halle may be ordered from other German or international libraries. To use this interlibrary loan, you will need an interlibrary loan account at the GBV, which the central lending desk will gladly create for you. Before ordering, you will need to charge the account. The cost is 1.50€ per interlibrary loan, which will be charged regardless of possible delivery. To order interlibrary loan titles, please use the Gemeinsamer Verbundkatalog   .

Please note: Due to copyright reasons, orders on partial copies of books or journal articles can only be delivered in paper form.

If you want to use international interlibrary loan, please contact the department.

Subito

Subito is a document delivery service   , that also allows the borrowing of books and/or the delivery of chapters from books or journal articles. Due to existing licensing contracts, delivery of papers or chapter parts may be electronic. Titles are delivered directly to the patron. The fees are higher than for interlibrary loan.

Up
