The Discovery System Ha:Lit    is the modern system for researching and loaning literature in the ULB. The Index consists of more than 400 million datasets and not only contains the contents from the OPACs of the library system Halle-Merseburg, it complements them with additional metadata from special subject databases, E-Journals and E-Books to offer a single Search for very heterogenerous data sources.

In order to make this enormous number of data usable, the system employs a so-called relevance ranking, prioritizing those search results that have the highest value for the searched topic.

The OPAC (Online Public Access Catalogue) is the original research and loaning system of the ULB in Halle. The catalogue contains monographic and current literature collected in the Central Library and the Branch Libraries since 1991 completely. Older holdings are added continually.

This version is available since 7 January 2003. An extensive Help explains the diverse options for searching and loaning. The digitized Image Catalogues allow research in the old holdings of the ULB. The GBV - Gemeinsamer Bibliotheksverbund - is the library network of Bremen, Hamburg, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Lower Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt, Schleswig-Holstein, Thuringia and the Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation. It spans over 380 libraries, including Federal-, State-, University- and Technical Highschool Libraries.

The Gemeinsamer Verbundkatalog - GVK    and many databases provide a comprehensive information service through the GBV.
