Guido Edler von Guotta
Guido Edler von Goutta was born on the 20th of June 1887 and died in 1966.
He studied Semitic philology and philosophy in Strasbourg, Heidelberg, Marburg and Freiburg. He received his doctorate in Freiburg in 1912 with the thesis “Die Aganiartikel über ‘Aśa von Hamadan”. From 1913 to 1940 Goutta worked as a librarian in Marburg, Göttingen and Halle (Saale).
Goutta’s estate was loaned by the University and State Library of Halle (Saale) to the library of the German Oriental Society, Halle (Saale), where it is still kept today.
It is also listed in the directory “Scholars’ and Writers’ Estates in the Libraries of the German Democratic Republic”, Part II, Berlin 1968, No. 161 on p. 36.
The partial estate – consisting of a volume of lecture transcripts and two volumes of sermon collections – was donated to the University and State Library of Halle (Saale) in 1957 [accession note: 1957G86]. He received the estate signature Yi 28.
