Registration/Extension of Membership
For being able to use the holdings of the University and State Library of Saxony-Anhalt, registration is necessary. Registering for library usage is possible in person either at the nearest circulation desk or online.
In addition to members and affiliates of the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg, persons 14 years of age or older are also eligible for registration and usage of the University and State Library. Minors have to submit a written declaration (de) of consent from their legal guardian to register. By registering, the usage regulation (de) of the University and State Library are accepted.
The library account usually remains valid for one year. To renew your account, please use the forms below or visit the nearest circulation desk in person.

Students
Students of the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg automatically accept the library regulations of the ULB per enrollment and are thus admitted to use the library prior to the start of their studies. For students of the Martin Luther University, the student ID (USC) functions as library card. The usage authorization is only valid for one year. An extension is possible using the form below. (New) Registration is only necessary should your library account been inactive for more than three years.

MLU Employees
MLU employees have the possibility to register in person at any location of the ULB. Please remember to bring along your personnel card, the filled-in registration form, an official ID (identity card, passport with registration certificate or residence permit) and the first page of your employment contract. The latter is required for determining the duration of the membership (based on the duration of the employment contract) and thus only needs to be shown to our personnel upon registration. The personnel card also functions as the library card.

State Library Users
State library users (non-university members) have to register in person at the main circulation desk (August-Bebel-Straße 50). The user receives a library card upon showing the filled-in registration form and an official ID. State library users who register online, receive their library card including the necessary access information for the library account either from staff at the main circulation desk or per mail should they not be living in Halle.
The usage authorization is only valid for one year. An extension is possible using the form below.
