With letter and seal – more fun with medieval documents

05.07.2024
20:00 - 21:00

ULB Saxony-Anhalt has a special treasure of documents: the “Morbio” collection from northern Italy with over 3650 documents, most of which date from the high and late Middle Ages. All kinds of documents are represented, from papal bulls and ruler’s diplomas to simple notarial deeds with everyday transactions. The collection has been available digitally for three months and it is time to make it known to a wider public. Because the vast majority of the documents are completely unknown and there is a lot to discover in them! Play memory with us and learn interesting and curious facts about this fascinating collection, legal life in the Middle Ages and why some indulgences are particularly useful.

The event will take place in the reading room for historical collections and maps, 1st floor, room 206. This is located in the administration building of the University and State Library of Saxony-Anhalt. August-Bebel-Straße 13, 06108 Halle (Saale).
