Writing your own code might be difficult, but is absolutely necessary in many research areas. Version control is of great advantage to optimize your own coding projects. Thus, if there are any mistakes, you can easily go back to a stable version via backup copies. This course describes the basics of a program called Git. It can be used to manage different versions of your coding projects. Our lecture especially addresses researchers that have no experiences with Git.
